Physician accreditation

In the Czech Republic cosmetic surgery is strictly controlled and surgeons need to be licensed and certified. At the first stage, physicians are required to obtain title Doctor of Medicine (Medicinae Universae Doctor - MUDr.) which is given to graduates after studying six-year program of general medicine at accredited university. This title allows a graduate to practice medicine in a hospital as an assistant physician (resident) or in an outpatient establishment under the supervision of another qualified doctor. The contemporary system of postgraduate medical education is based on a two-step specialization – the compulsory first degree of specialization for every doctor practicing medicine and the second specialization degree that is mandatory only for physicians in leading positions. The requirement for obtaining license in plastic surgery, the physicians have to complete the basic of surgery and specialized practice for at least of 6 years.
