Stem cells may be obtained from body fat using enzymes and a special technology. These cells are capable to live naturally in a different place in the body than where they were before without being absorbed or eliminated by the organism. Stem cells are unspecified cells capable of constant renewal, which give rise to one or more kinds of highly specialized cell populations. So, they are capable of metamorphosis into a different cell type. This ability enables the body to produce new cells and, by this means, repair the damaged parts consisting of specialized (differentiated) cells. Most organs and tissues in the human body contain, in addition to specialized cells that ensure the very function of the organ or tissue, also a cell population restricted in number, which ensures the replacement of “worn-out” cells in the terminal stages of differentiation and, by this means, a continuing recovery of entire functional units. These somatic stem cells may be renewed during the entire lifetime of an individual.

Body’s own stem cells have been used globally since 2003 already. The method was developed for women after partial or total breast removal (breast mastectomy). The actual fat tissue is a convenient material for transplantation as there is no risk of an immune reaction and rejection by the organism. In the past, due to imperfect technology, fat was administered repeatedly during breast reconstruction in the course of several months. Today, thanks to the latest laboratory technology, pure stem cells are obtained from the fat tissue within several hours. The first pioneers of this revolutionary method can be found in Japan. There, women after partial and total mastectomy have been subjected to clinical tests. All clients have successfully undergone treatment with no adverse effects. Currently, this method is used more widely in aesthetic surgery. Stem cells are gaining popularity not only in natural breast augmentation but also in removing wrinkles, shaping or augmentation of body parts (where more fullness is required), or in removing superficial unevenness of the body. Inborn or acquired defects may be corrected, whether they are due to an illness or a trauma. The method has started to be used worldwide, in Europe and also in Great Britain. People are gaining the opportunity to live a normal and full life.

Breast enlargement with stem cells is very easy. The fat is obtained from common problematic body parts by tumescent liposuction performed on an outpatient basis. The procedure is carried out under local anaesthesia, no general anaesthesia and hospitalization are necessary. The woman stays at the clinic for about 6 hours. During this method, pure stem cells are separated from the body fat obtained by liposuction. These cells are then mixed with good quality "normal" fat cells, i.e. specialized (differentiated) fat cells, at a double concentration of stem cells and, thanks to the stem cells, the actual renewal of the fat tissue takes place after autoimplantation. This special mixture is administered into the breasts by injection, with over 80% of the substance surviving during the first weeks. In course of two months, fine capillaries grow to the stem cells and the fat tissue becomes a natural part of the breast. After enlargement with stem cells, the breasts are naturally soft and have a natural shape. The method is completely safe; stem cells are obtained from patient’s own fat tissue. In comparison with implant enlargement, it is not necessary to wear any special compression bra after the procedure. The procedure is unique in that the woman achieves a slimmer figure by tumescent liposuction and the subcutaneous fat is used for upper body parts – for breast enlargement.

Breast enlargement, whether with or without implants – using stem cells – helps women to cope with an aesthetic problem and with a mental issue due to a smaller or emptier bust. Many women fear implantation of foreign material into the body, general anaesthesia, demanding recovery, resulting scarring and possible post-operative complications including encapsulation. Thanks to the progress in the field of plastic surgery, the situation is changing and these concerns are gradually disappearing. A woman's own fat tissue enables the surgeon to naturally enlarge the breasts without any scars and postoperative risks. The fat tissue is administered safely, outside of the mammary gland and mammary ducts. Women may undergo any prophylactic examinations, e.g. by palpation, ultrasound sonography, or mammography, without any problems.

Indications

Woman with smaller, not voluminous or slightly drooping breasts. Breasts may be enlarged approximately by one size. The body parts of the patient must contain a certain layer of subcutaneous fat, so that the breasts could be enlarged with her own stem cells. This may be, for example, on the belly, hips, thighs, etc. It is always individual. The woman must not be extremely thin. It is necessary to remove about 800 – 1 000 ml of fat tissue by liposuction. The surgery must meet the woman’s expectations, which is body contouring and natural breast enlargement.

Surgical procedure

Breast enlargement consists of three phases:

1. Collection of fat tissue by tumescent liposuction

At first fat is collected e.g. from the belly, thighs, buttocks, etc. Tumescent liposuction is performed under local anaesthesia, without the need of general anaesthesia and hospitalization. Liposuction takes about 2.5 hours, including the necessary office work and preparation.

2. Enzymatic processing of patient’s own fat

The obtained fat tissue is divided into two parts in a special laboratory apparatus. One part contains pure stem cells and healthy differentiated fat cells. The other one contains unneeded elements, such as damaged fat cells, blood cells, connective tissue fibres, and other ballast substances. In this way, a pure source for the mixture of stem and differentiated cells is obtained, which is then injected back to the breasts under local anaesthesia. Laboratory processing takes about 2 – 2.5 hours

3. Administration of good-quality differentiated cells and stem cells into the breasts

Mixture obtained in this way is gradually, in layers, administered into the breasts by injections, and thus the size and shape of the breasts may be modified. For the administration, two injections are sufficient, which heal very rapidly and without scarring. The last phase of the procedure does not last even one hour and is completely painless, as the breasts are anaesthetized with a local anaesthetic.

What follows is almost unreal; the stem cells become a part of the breasts and begin to be nourished by the capillary system. The administered fat tissue with stem cells gradually gains its own vascular perfusion, i.e. nutrition. This represents a huge difference from the classical enlargement using silicon gel substances, which are a foreign material for the body. In stem cells there is no risk of any negative reaction of the organism to the administered fat tissue, as it is composed of the body's own fat and stem cells, a natural part of the body. This method is professionally called “Cell Assisted Lipotransfer” or „CAL“. Fat administered by this method is absorbed only in about 10, or a maximum of 20 percent. Over 80% of the administered fat substance containing stem cells survives and becomes a natural part of the breasts. Nobody, not even a plastic surgeon, can tell a procedure has been performed on the breasts. Breasts are more voluminous without implants, scars, and necessary recovery period. The patient may go to work the following day. It is not even necessary to wear compression underwear after the procedure. The woman does not have to fear general anaesthesia and hospitalization. The stay at the clinic will take about 5 - 6 hours including a break for refreshment, coffee, etc. The woman is conscious all the time, she may watch TV, listen to music, or talk to the physician. Tiny punctures heal after the procedure by themselves, without being stitched. When healed, the puncture after injection is completely invisible. The risks of the procedure are minimal, without any risk of “material” rejection, implant rupture, encapsulation, etc. The resulting effect is permanent. The procedure has only one drawback, which is the possible size of breast enlargement. During one operation the breasts may be enlarged by about 1 size, which is very individual. The procedure may be repeated, of course, and, after some time, breasts may be enlarged even more.

Recovery after the surgery

Breast enlargement using stem cells does not require any complicated recovery as regards the breasts. The woman may go to work the next day, without any problem. Considering the fact that tumescent liposuction is performed at the same time, we recommend that the patient stay in home care for 2 – 3 days and that she reduce physical strain for one week. Neither during the day nor at night the woman has to wear any special compression bra; it is more appropriate to leave the breasts bare and avoid sleeping on the belly for several days.
