Appendoctomy

The procedure is performed in patients suffering from chronic pain in the right lower abdomen, if no other cause has been found. Very often, appendoctomy is indicated in women suffering from abdominal pain to be able to differentiate it from the pain caused by gynaecological problems. In this case, it is equally important that the patient undergoes a gynaecological examination. The appendix can be removed either by a conventional surgery or laparoscopically, under general anaesthesia. It requires short-term hospitalization.
